Quotes

The enemies never stop in their determination to destroy us. There are two conceptions: those of the elements of the extreme right in U.S politics, who dream about strangulating us through a more iron-fisted economic blockade, if that were possible, and wipe us off the surface of the earth by any means. They are those who promote laws like the Helms-Burton Act, well-known and analyzed by our people, and other draconian measures. They are those who want to destroy us from outside.

The other conception is that of those who want to penetrate us, making us soften, creating all kinds of counter revolutionary organizations and destabilizing the country, no matter what the consequences might be. There is a complete theory prepared through a program designed for that aim. These people want to exert an influence through wide exchanges with different sectors which they consider as permeable; providing juicy scholarships, dazzling us with their millionaire institutions, their technologies, and their centers for social research. They don’t authorize U.S people to travel, to know and rest in Cuba; but they are ready to send sociologists, philosophers, historians, Cubanologists, English professors and other academicians to our universities to "illuminate" us. But, of course, never in the world, send a professor of cybernetics, computer or other branch of the technology who wasn’t in correspondence with the ideology and could be of some utility to the country. That’s the so called the Side Two of the Torricelli Act. Those are who want to destroy us from inside.

There are many great and noble U.S people in all the spheres, including businessmen, who don’t take part in any of these conceptions.

Meanwhile, in the U.S territory -- and this is very serious –terrorist acts against the people and vital areas of the economy, are actively organized and arranged and they are working frenetically on assassination plots against the leaders of the Revolution once more. The main center for such actions is the so called Cuban-American National Foundation. It’s absolutely impossible that the CIA and the FBI do not know about these complots when it’s supposed that they have those organizations penetrated because many of their members have been related to them.

These plots are easier at present with the opening of our country to tourism and the possibility of travel in both directions that exists between Cuba and the United States, and the introduction of means by several ways to carry them out is more feasible.

Our security bodies are on the alert with regards to these activities and they work on the prevention of such events.

We don’t talk without evidence, we are warning them in time and we hope that nobody will regret later the rigor that the revolutionary laws use to punish these crimes, and do not try to appeal to the generosity of the Revolution.

In addition, there are more than a thousand hours of weekly broadcasts by radio, inciting from the U.S, encouraging the realization of sabotage, activities against the economy and the assassination of political leaders.

It’s absolutely disgraceful that after the crime in Oklahoma, acts of terrorisms against Cuba will be organized and try to be carried out from the United States.

What has been said so far gives an idea of how hard our struggle is and will be. In addition, take into account that the United States is facing an electoral process, and the elements of the extreme Right, who control at present the majority of the U.S Congress, aspire not only to sweep away the social measures originated in Roosevelt’s time; but also to occupy the Government of the United States with all the consequences that this will have for the world.
