Cuba will follow the US presidential elections due to its influence in the world and the tendency of US political class to refuse to recognize the sovereign rights of the Cuban nation.
 
'In our case, due to geographical closeness and historical trend, I would say that it is consistent with the different US governments and political class of refusing to recognize the sovereign rights of the Cuban nation,' a Foreign Ministry senior official said.
 
Carlos Fernandez de Cossio, director of US Relations Department for the Cuban Foreign Ministry, told Prensa Latina there is an 'inability to accept that we Cubans have the right to self-determination.'
 
In exclusive talks at his office in Havana, the ambassador commented the impact of the US presidential elections is direct for that country but also for the whole world.
 
'One can consider that due to the disproportionate influence the US has in military, economic and communicational terms, what happens in the US presidential elections and the policies resulting from whoever is elected as president have an impact for the entire international community,' he analyzed.
