Cuba prepares dynamic test for a referendum on Family Code

Cuba on Friday prepares the dynamic test for the referendum on the Family Code, a vote that will define the total validity of the law approved by the National People's Power Assembly (Parliament) in July.

National Electoral Council president Alina Balseiro explained on television that all systems that should work on September 25, when the popular vote will take place, will be checked on September 18.

More than 200,000 people, including the permanent electoral authorities, collaborators, supervisors, and children, who in Cuba are in charge of guarding the ballot boxes, will participate in the referendum.

Balseiro said there is no precedent of a referendum of this kind in the country, so the preparation of documents and the electoral system to ensure transparency and adherence to legality and processes has been much more intense.

On September 18, the nationals working abroad on state missions could also vote in more than 1,000 polling stations set up for this purpose.
