Cuban Parliamentary Permanent Committees Open Sessions

Cuba''s National Assembly has started the work of its ten permanent committees, which will analyze the country''s current situation in all spheres.
 
The parliamentary meeting will end on July 15 at Havana's Convention Center, where Cuban lawmakers will meet at the 5th Ordinary Session of the 8th Legislature.
 
According to the agenda, the lawmakers will analyze the compliance with the people's demands, a process that involves officials from the state central administration.
 
The officials must report on the measures taken to solve the problems, those that are being solved and the causes that prevent solving them.
 
The national economic plan, the budget's execution in the first semester of the year and the approval of the evaluation that the Assembly will submit on the report on the liquidation of the 2014 Budget are included on the agenda of the Economic Affairs Committee.
 
The committees on Industry, Construction and Energy, and Attention to Services will work together to assess the compliance with the programs to produce and commercialize construction materials, housing, and subsidies and bank credits.
 
The Attention to Services Committee will debate the work in commerce, gastronomy and other services, and the new forms of management, as well as the transformations in transportation, the development of local initiatives as a source of income in tourism and the process to computerize the country.
 
The Constitutional and Juridical Committee will analyze the implementation of Law 115 on Maritime, River and Lagoon Navigation and its complementary legislation.
 
The International Relations Committee, in turn, will analyze the work of the National Assembly in that area.
 
The National Assembly (unicameral) is made up of 162 lawmakers, more than 48 percent of whom are women. Its president is Esteban Lazo and its vice president is Ana María Mari Machado.
