Cuban President Chairs Tribute to Fidel Castro

Cuban President Raul Castro chairs today the political-cultural event in tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and attended by dozens of statesmen from all over the world.
 
Havana's Revolution Square, where mass rallies have taken place and where Fidel spoke to his people on several occasions, is the scenario for the tribute.
 
Present at the event are heads of State and Government from several countries, along with intellectuals and leaders of social organizations and movements from the world over.
 
Since the afternoon, thousands of people had gathered, including many youths.
 
Few hours after the news of Fidel's death was made public, statesmen from several countries sent their messages of condolence and expressed their will to participate in the posthumous homage.
 
The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution passed away on Friday, November 25th. Since the 28th, events of posthumous homage have been held nationwide until December 4th, when his remains will be buried at Santa Ifigenia Cemetery, in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba.
 
The Council of State decreed nine days of national mourning starting on Saturday, November 26th.
