Cubans are paying tribute on Monday to the historic leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro (1926-2016), with several tributes dedicated to remembering his legacy on the 3rd anniversary of his death.
 
Fidel lives on in his people and the admiration of those from all over the world, the national press noted in many articles on the occasion of the anniversary.
 
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel posted on his Twitter account: 'How to remember Fidel? Assuming his legacy as his own, confronting imperialism with courage and firmness, working and thinking for the people, fighting because a better world is possible.'
 
For his part, Gerardo Hernandez, Vice Rector of University Extension at the Higher Institute of International Relations and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, reiterated the call for global action through Twitter as part of the tributes to the revolutionary leader using the hashtags #YoSoyFidel, #PorSiempreFidel, #HastaSiempreComandante.
 
The Cuban Federation of University Students, the Young Communist League and the people in general will participate in a political-cultural events this evening at the grand staircase of the University of Havana to remember the Commander-in-Chief.
 
Everyday reality offers proof of the affection for 'the Chief' as many called him, as hundreds of people every day visit the Santa Ifigenia Patrimonial Cemetery, and in front of the huge granite rock where Fidel's ashes lie, confirm that he remains a beacon for the world.
 
According to data provided by the managers of this site, more than 1,800,000 people have visited to the cemetery during these almost three years to express their respect and admiration for the leader of the Cuban Revolution.
 
Santa Ifigenia records also reveal that about 270,000 foreigners from more than 80 countries, from all continents, have visited the site to pay their last respects to Fidel.
