Fidel Castro's Legacy Is a Light of Hope: Sent by Belarus

The Belarussian envoy to the posthumous tribute to Fidel Castro, Victor Sheiman, has said here today that the legacy of the Cuban leader has been a light of hope. We say goodbye with sadness to the eminent leader of the Cuban Revolution, our friend Fidel, Sheiman said at the beginning of his speech.
'It has been very difficult to convey in words the feelings that are in our hearts,' the official said with regret during the tribute at the Jose Marti Revolution Square.
According to Sheiman, Fidel's example turned into liberating movements on a regional and international scale and his life became a point of reference for many fighters for the freedom of their peoples.
He proudly recalled in his speech that during his lifetime Fidel has always been guided by the principle 'it is better to die standing than to live on your knees.'
Fidel did not die, he remained, and his clear image of invincible Commander will remain forever because his name has been written in golden letters, as Belarussian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said, Sheiman noted.
Belarus has assessed the contribution of the eminent politician to the friendly relationships between Cuba and that country, he also added.
Sheiman recalled that Fidel's life -full of feats and victories- has been an example of service to the country and his work will continue its victorious path.
Heads of State and Government from several regions of the world are participating today in the posthumous tribute to Fidel Castro, who passed away on Friday, November 25th, at the age of 90.
