Uhuru Kenyatta, President of Kenya, stated today in this capital city that his Government and Cuba will continue to have a permanent relationship based on principles and solidarity, bilaterally and within the Non-Aligned Movement.
 
Kenyatta said at the Park of African Heroes, the only one of its kind in the world, that in honor of both countries' founding people, struggles against colonialism, imperialism, and in favor of the sovereignty of the peoples will be supported.
 
Kenyatta reiterated that liberation struggles in Africa can not be mentioned without talking about Cuba, 'Africans have been the greatest beneficiaries of the Cuban Revolution,' he said.
 
Unveiling a sculpture of first President of Kenya Jomo Kenyatta at the Park of the African Heroes and placing a wreath to honor him, Kenyatta said that the relations of his country and Cuba continue to inspire the leaders of Africa.
 
Meanwhile, head of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Fernando Gonzalez referred to some of the most outstanding issues of the ties between the two countries.
 
'Even though bilateral relations between our governments is relatively recent, we are united by the ideals defended by the leaders of the two countries, the struggle for the independence of their peoples and the African contribution to our nationality and culture,' said Gonzalez.
 
Gonzalez said that since 2016 Kenya has an Embassy in Cuba, something that represents an important step that will contribute to the development in fields such as trade, education and culture.
 
He said that 60 young people from Kenya have graduated in various specialties such as medicine, architecture, engineering, agricultural sciences and humanities.
 
The two countries established relations in 1995 and the opening ceremony of the new facility of the Kenyan Embassy in Cuba will take place tomorrow in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
