Moving toward the future under the guidance of Fidel

Jiguaní, Granma.— Early on the morning of December 6, youth from this locality in the municipality of Jiguaní, Granma province, filled the streets with enthusiasm and revolutionary zeal, to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Federation of Secondary School Students (FEEM) and reaffirm their commitment to continuing the legacy of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

With their characteristic free spirit and spontaneity, students from the Ignacio Pérez Zamora Pre-University Institute walked six kilometers from the institution to the historic site known as San José del Retiro.

Every once in a while, among posters, signs and flags, shouts of “I am Fidel!” “¡Hasta la Victoria Siempre!” and “Fidel, giant, eternal Comandante!” erupted, as Cuban youths reaffirmed that the revolutionary leader will continue lighting the path of the nation’s socialist project.

Similar scenes were repeated on arrival to the historic site, where in December 1958 heroic Rebel Army combatants died, including Ignacio Pérez Zamora, martyr after whom the pre-university institution is named.

At this symbolic location, five students received their Young Communist League (UJC) membership cards, while participants recalled, through poems and songs, the legacy of the eternal Comandante.

Speaking to the press student Rocío Gómez Matamoros, noted that the best way to keep Fidel’s legacy alive is to be better students every day.

In his youth the Comandante en Jefe astonished all with his excellent academic work and firm principles, which is why we must look to his ideas, to help face current challenges, stated Jorge Romero Quesada, another student from the Ignacio Pérez Zamora Pre-University Institute.

We will continue to be faithful continuators of the Comandante's work, and under his guidance we will steer the future of the country toward new victories, stated Dariela Mailín Ceruto Jerez, FEEM president in Granma province.

Prior to the walk, a patriotic act was held at the Ignacio Pérez Zamora Institute, where Cuban students once again reaffirmed their willingness to move toward the future under the sure guidance of Fidel.

Both activities were attended by Miguel Álvarez Anaya, Party secretary in Jiguaní, and Gelquis Ricardo del Toro, UJC Provincial Committee first secretary in Granma.
