Nicaraguan Children Pay Tribute to Fidel Castro

A group of Nicaraguan children paid a posthumous tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on Sunday, when an exhibiton of teir paintings was inaugurated in this capital.

The exhibition, held at the Nicaraguan Institute of Culture (INC), had the participation of more than 20 children who exhibited their best works, including several portraits of the Cuban leader.

Several children expressed their respect and admiration for one of the greatest figures of the 20th century, as well as a close friend of the Sandinista Revolution, using different drawing techniques and styles with tempera, acrylic paints, colored pencils and crayons on cardboard and other materials. This initiative was part of the Children's Art Workshop developed by the INC for 10 months, which concluded on Saturday, although new registrations are open at the institution for next year.

According to Eddy Luz Telleria, head of the Visual Arts Department at the INC, this project seeks to encourage children with talents for painting who want to learn more about that artistic expression.
