President Díaz-Canel attends XI Congress of Cuban journalists
President Miguel Díaz-Canel is attending the closing day of the 11th Congress of the Union of Cuban Journalists (Upec) at the Convention Palace in Havana.
Also present are Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the PCC and Secretary of Organization, Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC and head of the Ideological Department and Inés María Chapman Waugh, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic.
The day before, more than 270 delegates from all over the country discussed the role of the sector in the context of a network society, the professional development and training of journalists, as well as the necessary transformation to adapt Upec to the current communication needs.
They also approved the organization's Bylaws and Code of Ethics and voted to elect its president for the period 2023-2028.
Under the motto "Changes yes -- Revolutionary changes," communication professionals will debate today on the ongoing process of transformations to make the Cuban press model more effective, and will approve the Upec Action Plan for the 2023-2028 period.
