In the wise imprint of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and the path bequeathed by the eternal president of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), Vilma Espín Guillois, the work of Cuban women finds reasons.
A few days before the federates celebrate the 64th anniversary of the founding of their organization, and just on the date that marks the 98th birthday of its fervent promoter, Fidel, the awards ceremony was held, presided over by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic.
Hand in hand with the Head of State and members of the Political Bureau Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State; Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee; and Teresa Amarelle Boué, Secretary General of the FMC, the Mariana Grajales and Ana Betancourt orders were awarded to five and 20 comrades, respectively, all with relevant merits, and whose work has distinguished them in the different spheres in which they work.
In addition, the August 23rd Distinction was given to a representation of the 300 federates that will receive it throughout the country, as well as the recognition to 45 cadres and workers with more than 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years of uninterrupted work in the FMC.
Fidel defined Cuban women "as a revolution within the Revolution." Let his ideas and his constant accompaniment of Vilma in the work of the FMC serve as a guide to follow the path in the defense of women's rights.
