The 10th Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties that concluded Sunday in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo dedicated part of its final session to the Cuban Five’s case.
According to a PL report, representatives of 65 political parties from 54 countries from all continents watched a video interview of Gerardo Hernandez Norbelo, who is one of the five Cubans imprisoned for over a decade in the United States for trying to prevent terrorist attacks against his country. The interview was made by BBC radio journalist

In the conversation with the reporter, Gerardo unmasks the injustice committed against the Cuban Five. He refutes the accusations presented by the US government, which charged as being a threat to the national security of the country. Gerardo talked about the bias nature of their trial that took place amid a hostile Miami environment, where there is a powerful Cuban-American community that opposes the island’s revolutionary process.
The prisoner made reference to the terrorist aggressions committed by the US against Cuba, the victims and the material losses, which he said reveals Washington’s double standard of protecting terrorists like Luis Posada Carriles.
After listening to the BBC interview with Gerardo Hernandez, the participants in the forum gave a standing applause and renewed their commitment to work for the return of the Cuban Five to the island.
