Cuban doctors, who face professional challenges and unthinkable personal experiences here amid limitations every day, deserve great recognition from the Yemeni people and government.
"The Cubans created the Medical faculty in Aden and assist and teach their peers with great professionalism," General Director of Health in Aden, southern Yemen, Alkhader Nasser Laswar told Prensa Latina.
Nasser described as "very valuable to society" the work carried out by 24 doctors, 14 of them teaching at the University of Aden and the rest practicing different specialities, along with five nurses and one physical therapist.
"We value highly the work of these doctors, who see military staff and civilians in two hospitals here, " said Nasser, who proudly declared himself a disciple of Cuban professors who accomplished missions in Yemen.
Cuba started medical collaboration with Yemen, then Socialist Republic of Southern Yemen, with the inauguration of its first medical faculty abroad in November 1975.
