President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, asked today of fellow members of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) summit being held here, to take really transcendent decisions to make era changes in the Big Motherland.

At the inauguration of the meeting of heads of state of Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, together with other invited nations of this region, Correa asked that this summit is a step forward to that Big Motherland dreamed by our liberators.

In this really democratic, humane and pacific birth, he said, we greet through our dear José Ramón (referring to the Cuban Vice President Machado Ventura) that 60th anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada Garrison in Cuba, which sparked our dreams of Our America.

We greet Fidel and Raul Castro, Che (Ernesto) Guevara, who from the Sierra Maestra mountains, La Higuera in Bolivia or any other part in the world tell us the Revolution is an act of love, stressed Correa.

We raise the insurgent memory of Eloy Alfaro and Jose Marti, as a revolutionary banner, he added.

We embrace the liberty spirit of Hugo Chavez, he expressed amid a big ovation and stressed he is more alive than ever, singing as always, for all and every one of us, together with the indigenous, blacks, mulattoes, mountaineers, fishermen, men of the plains, workers, farmers, artisans, all this diverse and multicolored people.

Why did Our America could never develop, why those great contradictions between the extremely rich and the extremely poor, in a region that had it all to be the most prosperous of the planet, so many resources and yet it has not reached the Well Being, asked Correa.

The answer, he added, is because we were always dominated by a few, because we were submitted by excluding elites. That is the first and fundamental change that Our America is adopting, he stressed.

The financial capital does no longer rule in our countries, nor the international bureaucracy.

In the ALBA countries our peoples are in control and that is what the elites do not pardon us since they lost power.

Those powers have weakened, he said, but alerted that there still exist foreign and domestic threats and we have to be alert to face them adequately.

Of course there is still imperialism, he remembered, but it is expressing itself through the control of capital, market domain, of every man to himself, with the media power linked to that empire and affirmed that ALBA is anti-imperialist and faces an unjust and immoral world order.
