Cuban Advisors Arrive in Nicaragua for Literacy Campaign

HAVANA, Cuba, Sept 18 (acn) Cuban teachers that will participate in the “From Marti to Fidel” literacy campaign in Nicaragua are already in the Central American country where they will work as advisors in this initiative that will use the Cuban literacy method “Yo si puedo” (Yes, I Can).
According to Prensa Latina news agency, a total of 47 teachers will assist the Nicaraguan government in its effort to declare the country as a territory free from illiteracy in 2009.
The Cuban specialists were welcomed at the Augusto Cesar Sandino international airport by the ambassador of the Caribbean nation in Managua, Luis Hernandez, who urged them to do their best and to commit themselves to the work that they will soon be doing.
For his part, the General Secretary of the Sandinista Youth, Mario Rivera, who is also the head of the literacy campaign, greeted the Cuban teachers on behalf of the Nicaraguan people and told them that their work would help many people learn about their rights and duties.
