The Ministerial Council of Women and Equal Opportunities of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) will session this week after being created last February.

Venezuelan Vice Minister for Women and Gender Equality Elida Aponte disclosed that also a meeting will be held on April 10 in commemoration of the bicentennial of the independence of the countries of the region.

The agenda of the Council includes items as the convergence and divergence of socialism and feminism throughout History and an agenda of an International Joint Conference on Socialism, Feminism and Gender scheduled June.

In statements to Venezolana de Television, Aponte pointed out that the functioning and structure of the Ministerial Council, which will advise ALBA's Heads of State and Ministerial councils, will be another item of the agenda.

ALBA is made up of Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Nicaragua, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Venezuela.
