Representatives of Latin American countries remembered Cuba's national hero Jose Marti today, on the 132nd anniversary of his visit to Caracas, capital of Venezuela.
In remarks to Prensa Latina, Edgardo Ramirez, ambassador in Havana for that South American nation, talked of Marti's arrival in the birthplace of independence hero Simon Bolivar.
"He went to pay tribute -as a son- to the father, he went to forge his ideas for independence, freedom and, above all, the unity of Our America," Ramirez said, after along with other leaders, placing a wreath at the Jose Marti monument located at Havana's Revolution Square. The diplomat described paying tribute to the considered "Master Teacher" as an honor, in the context of the 160th anniversary of his birth, to be commemorated on January 28.
Venezuela began an active agenda of activities to celebrate the date, while Cuba will hold the Third International Conference on World Equilibrium.
