The Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MMSC) convened today the XX National Meeting of Solidarity with the island, to be held in this capital from 21 to 22 March.
Since the first day of the triumph, the Cuban people and the Revolution have faced diverse and complicated challenges, says the notice of MSMC, which condemns the "criminal economic, financial and commercial blockade, in force to this day, imposed by the United States".
It adds that the Cuban Revolution over the years has been able to develop its economic, political and social project; it has never wavered in the most difficult situations, having as a fundamental premise the welfare of human beings and the maintenance of its solidarity with the poorest peoples of the world.
MMSC considers that the largest of the Antilles has been unwavering in defending its sovereignty and self-determination, a principle that -it stresses- allowed the return to Cuba of Elian Gonzalez in 2000, after being kidnapped in Miami.
It also considered as one of the most important political achievements the return to their homeland of the Cuban Five, who served long and unjust sentences in the United States.
The text considers that the new process initiated between the United States and Cuba demands intensifying the work of solidarity with the Cuban people and their Revolution.
The notice recalls that MMSC was founded 20 years ago as a result of the confluence of various political and social organizations throughout the country.
Three working tables will be in session during the meeting with the topics: Youth and Solidarity, Work Experiences in the States and Action Plans, and The Blockade and Media War.
Lectures on Cuba-US relationship, the economic situation on the island, and the Cuban youth, tasks and solidarity, are also planned.
