Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno called on Non Aligned countries to preserve the unity and strength of the Movement in spite of complex challenges posed by the international scene.

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno called on Non Aligned countries to preserve the unity and strength of the Movement in spite of complex challenges posed by the international scene.
Moreno spoke on Saturday at the opening of the segment for high level officials as part of the 15th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement to be held in this Egyptian resort through July 16.
During the ceremony to hand over the presidency of the session to Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs, Naela Gabr, the Cuban diplomat said he was handing over the movement's torch to Egypt with the certainty that it will continue the efforts to preserve NAM unity.
He also expressed confidence that this Arab nation will pay attention to challenges to be faced by NAM and address them amid the complex world crisis.
Moreno also highlighted the effort made by Cuba and its people to hold successfully the NAM meetings in Havana, from the 14th summit in September 2006 to the preparatory ministerial gathering in April 2009.
He said Cuba had the honor to lead the movement in this period, but the merit is collective, as we were able to preserve our cohesion over any current difference.
He asserted that the Movement is today more alive than ever, and insisted that unity is essential, so that NAM's significance and role can be increasingly indispensable worldwide.
