President Nguyen Minh Triet confirmed today that Vietnam will always be side by side with Cuba, whose heroism admire the progressive people around the world.
Minh Triet reiterated Vietnam's commitment at receiving a high ranking Cuban military delegation headed by Army Corps General Alvaro López Miera, First Deputy Minister and Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Armed Forces.
Just after a tiresome tour around Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Algeria, the Vietnamese representative spoke with the also member of the Council of State of Cuba, who arrived from Russia on Thursday.
"The Communist Party of Vietnam, the State and people always appreciate the support provided by Cuba historically," said the president, who reiterated his admiration for the island.
He also expressed his confidence in the fact that this visit will boost the traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the parties, governments and armies of both countries.
López Miera considered this visit a good opportunity to learn from the experience of the Vietnam People's Army, and praised the development he has found in this country since his previous visit, years ago.
At the same time, he expressed the commitment of strengthen the relations between the two armed forces and to speed up cooperation programs.
The day before, Lopez Miera met with Vietnam's Defense Minister, General Phung Quang Thanh, who acknowledged the valuable and effective support of Cuba in emancipating this Indo-China nation, whose people would never forget such solidarity.
