The Federation of University Students called on its members and students worldwide to join in an online forum on Thursday in defense of peace and for the freedom of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the United States.

According to the announcement published Wednesday in the Cuban newspaper Juventud Rebelde, those interested may exchange ideas between 10:00 and 12:00 local time at the website http://foros.cubava.cu.

Aware of the historic moment the world is experiencing today, Cuban students are not giving up in their efforts to prevent a war and reinforce that international persuasion force "to which we have been summoned by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro," said Patricia Garcia, FEU international relations secretary.

That stage will be also used to support Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez, and protest the injusticecommitted against them, she said.

The Five, as they are universally known, were arrested on September 12, 1998, for monitoring terrorist groups responsible for violent actions against Cuba.

As a firm defender of peace and justice, the FEU will continue fighting for the right to life, as Fidel Castro said when addressing university students on September 3, the forum announcement stated.
