The Cuban Parliament seeks to achieve greater efficiency of the people's power in the island, especially the relation between delegates and the population, according to a report issued today.

The Cuban Parliament seeks to achieve greater efficiency of the people's power in the island, especially the relation between delegates and the population, according to a report issued today.
During the first day of the second period of sessions of the National Assembly of the People's Power, the results of accountability meetings between delegates and their voters were discussed.
About 245 436 opinions were analyzed, many of them related to people's discontent regarding services from different administrative institutions.
The most frequent complaints have to do with public street lighting, maintenance and restoration of buildings, roads and sidewalks, as well as the water supply system.
Garbage collection, lack of stability in community doctors' services, the need to increase the number of public and private phones, and the betterment of public transportation, were among other topics widely discussed.
By November 30th, 87 789 of those complaints had been given a solution, which represents the 62.3 percent, says the control report from the last session of Parliament.
The president of the National Assembly of the People's Power, Esteban Lazo, stressed in plenary the need for better communication between the delegate and the people's administrative institutions.
There are complaints the country cannot solve due to the context, but it is essential the population knows everything about it, he added.
