More than 260 Namibian youths will soon travel to study medicine and stomatology in Cuba, as part of a program that aims to train around 1,000 doctors from the African country in the next10 years.
The young students, mostly women, come from the 14 provinces in Namibia, the Health Ministry reported in this capital.
During a meeting with the students, Cuban Ambassador to Namibia Giraldo Mazola highlighted the moral commitment that all of them were assuming with their country.
Once they have conclude their studies, they should return to their country to treat the Namibian population, which needs urgently incorporation of local doctors to its health system.
At the meeting, collaborators from the island that are rendering services in Namibia and other students that had graduated in Cuba were in attendance.
