Cuba’s First Vice-president José Ramón Machado Ventura toured several municipalities of Havana on Monday, to assess the development of recovery work begun immediately after the passage of the devastating hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
The president of the Civil Defense Council in the province, Ulises Gilarte De Nacimiento, offered the top official a detailed explanation of the main actions carried out in the territory to guarantee the restoration of centers of production and residential buildings, as well as food production.
De Nacimiento re-affirmed the commitment of the province’s agricultural workers and farmers of contributing to the production of food for its population, the Cuban capital, western Pinar del Río province, and the Isle of Youth special municipality.
