He writes in Mexico City the article entitled: “¿Qué delito han cometido?” (What crime have they committed?) regarding the events in Cuba concerning the so-called "Conspiracy of the Pure " within the Armed Forces. In spite of not sharing the conspirators’ way of confronting the tyranny, Fidel defends the conspirators who tried to save what was still “pure” about the ranks of the Armed Forces. He ratifies his conviction that popular insurrection is the only well-aimed revolutionary path involving civilians and military alike.
