- He publishes the article "Answering Masferrer" in which he confronts the manipulations of congressman and gangster leader Rolando Masferrer and states that "neither Masferrer, nor El Colorado, nor the murderers of all colors which make up that fauna of gunmen, will be able to prevail over those who hold honest and fair-minded ideals. "
