  • He gives a speech to more than ten thousand students at Dillon Field House at Harvard University in Boston. He attends a reception at this university’s Faculty Club.
  • A trip by plane from Boston to Canada, for a one-day visit.
  • Press conference given at Queen Elizabeth Hotel, where he was staying.
  • A visit to Saint Justice Children’s Hospital, the largest in Canada.
  • A visit to the Royal Mounted Police.

  • Arrival in the city of Houston, Texas, from Canada. He was welcomed by Mayor Lewis Cutrer.
  • Meeting with Commander Raúl Castro in Shamrock Hotel, in Houston. Raúl had travelled to the US to brief the leader of the Revolution about the situation in Cuba.  
  • Meeting with Paulina del Conde, wife of Antonio del Conde “El Cuate”, from Mexico, who was involved in the purchase of “Granma” yatch and was imprisoned in the United States at that time on charges of sending weapons to the Cuban government.
  • At the Shamrock Hotel of Houston, Texas, Fidel and his brother Raúl Castro give a press conference.
  • Fidel leaves for Buenos Aires to participate in the Economic Conference of the Inter-American Committee.
  • Arrival at Port of Spain airport, in Trinidad and Tobago, as a port of call to Buenos Aires. He was met by Prime Minister Eric Williams.

  • Meeting with Juscelino Kubitschek, President of Brazil, in Alvorada Palace, in Brasilia, after which Fidel made statements to the press.
  • He was seen off at the airport by the Brazilian President on his departure for Argentina. 
  • Early morning arrival at Ezeiza Airport. He is received in Buenos Aires by three aides-de-camp of President Arturo Frondizi and Che’s relatives. He is declared Official Guest of Argentina. Arrival at the Alvear Palace Hotel. He meets with Gonzalo Castro, his uncle, who resides in Argentina.
  • At his hotel, he receives the Argentine Chancellor, Dr. Carlos Florit.
  • The president of Brazil bids him farewell from the Brasilia airport, and he heads to Sao Paulo, on his way to Buenos Aires.
  • Attendance to the Conference of the Economic Council of the 21 where he delivered an important speech and said: “The hour has arrived for the people of Latin America to make a really serious effort to find a real solution, a real remedy for our problems and ailments, which are really economic.”
  • Lunch with his uncle Gonzalo Castro in the latter’s residence.
  • A visit to the house of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara’s parents, with whom he had a warm exchange.
  • Meeting with Arturo Frondizi, President of Argentina, in Los Olivos Presidential Residence.
  • Tribute paid to General José de San Martín at El Libertador (The Liberator) Square in Buenos Aires.
  • Departure for Uruguay. He was welcomed by a large crowd at Carrasco Airport in Montevideo and made statements to the press where he said: “The people of Latin America must unite, only then shall we be able to overcome difficulties. The people always manage to reach an understanding.”
  • Fidel visits areas affected by the flooding of the Rincón del Bonete Dam, Uruguay.  He visits other sites affected by the floods. He gives a TV interview.
