Thousands of families affected by hurricanes Gustav and Ike received aid from friendly nations and several international organizations in this western Cuban province.
The donations, consisting of cooking utensils and personal items, have a high human value for the inhabitants of Cuba's westernmost province, Pinar del Rio, according to Oslirio Alvarez, representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Investment and Collaboration.
He told Prensa Latina that the aid is a genuine expression of solidarity, and contributes to improving people's living conditions in the regions must affected by tropical hurricanes.
The latest shipment, consisting of clothes, toys and food, came from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and was distributed to people in Los Palacios, one of the hardest-hit regions, he added.

Alvarez pointed out that Canada's Dubois Foundation has made donations as well, mainly clothes.
