Prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso appeared excited, after inaugurating the Saved Images exhibition on Friday in this city, with 56 unpublished snapshots taken of her from 1925 to 2011 by cardinal names of the lens.

In the Wifredo Lam Cultural Center, where the show will remain until January 10, 2012, the dancer said she felt satisfied by so much beauty, confirming she also felt very Cuban, referring to the words of praise by the journalist and art critic Tony Piñera.

Piñera mentioned among the artists of the lens that make up the exhibition; Alberto Korda, Ernesto Hernandez, Liborio Noval, Tonatiuh Gutiérrez, Sandro Miller, Nancy Reyes, Graciela Gomez, Anne Marie Heinrich and Luis Alberto Alonso, among others.

He also referred to the collection, which belongs to the National Museum of Dance, whose authors are still unknown, but have given life to a reality.

He added that the more than 50 pictures are of outstanding value, and although they show the image of Alicia, they can never deliver the true extent of the wife, mother, teacher, companion and, above all things, the friend she is.

Looking at them, he stressed, isolated moments can be reconstructed and she will be feeling at each everything left in this small, fleeting flash that catches the viewer into eternity, a word that goes from birth to art.

The photos, medium and large formats, collect unexpected moments in the life of the legendary artist, as in the balcony of his house on the porch reading, with Rally, one of her puppies-in domestic chores and a moment of intimacy her daughter Laura Alonso.

Also, there are photographs by the Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro, the Moncada Heroines of Melba Hernandez and Haydee Santamaria and the painter Mariano Rodriguez.

This exhibition is part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the stage debut of the director general of the National Ballet of Cuba in the dance, when the December 29, 1931 he played the Grand Waltz from Sleeping Beauty, with only 11 years.

The climax will be next Thursday at a gala event will remember, in the García Lorca Hall of the Great Theater of Havana.
