The historical relations of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Cuba were highlighted during the celebration for the 58 years of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) creation.
With Liubar Oros recitation of the poem "Ya estamos en combate", by Cuban revolutionary poet Raul Gomez Garcia, began the ceremony for the creation of FAR, in a crowded room theater at the San Miguel Fortress, which houses the Museum of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).
On an intimate stage, with the presence of Cuban collaborators and inhabitants, Angolans, authorities, military attaches and diplomats representing various countries, the Angolan singer Don Caetano sang "La Guantanamera" and raked up his love for Cuba.
Minutes later, Russian Colonel Nicolai Ribtchiuk, president of the Association of Military Attachés accredited to Angola, described the ceremony held in the museum as symbolic "because Cuban internationalists contributed in the struggle for the preservation of Angolan integrity".
Following Ribtchiuks words, Cuban singer Marlene Ricardo Gonzalez sang "La Lupe" by Juan Almeida and Angolan General Egidio de Sousa Santos, deputy head of the Patriotic Education of General Staff (EMG) of FAA, gave a speech referring to internationalism.
"Cuba is a brother country of Angola for historical reasons ... and its solidarity is linked to the peoples in the world that struggle for their emancipation", said De Sousa.
Following his speech, the group Tchianda, from the Angolan Navy, came on stage to perform Mboio, a traditional dance.
After the applause, Colonel Julio Abreu Lopez, Cuban military attaché to Angola, said that there are plenty of reasons to celebrate the 58th anniversary of FAR in the homeland of Agostinho Neto, "a close friend of Cuban people".
In the final stage of the celebrations the performance of the dance group Raices Cubanas, made up of FAR officers and civilian employees, took place, as well as a toast for the date with the music played by Son Habana.
The ceremony was attended by Angolan General Geraldo Sachipengo Nunda, head of EMG of FAA, Kundi Paihama, governor of the province Huambo, Jovelina Imperial, deputy governor of the province Luanda, Gisela Garcia, Cuban Ambassador to Angola, as well as generals, admirals and senior officers.
