The irrational U.S. blockade imposed against Cuba for more than 50 years must stop immediately, because it is unjust and shameful, Angolan Health Minister Jose Van Dunem said in this capital.

In remarks to Prensa Latina, Van Dunem stated that while Washington talks about human rights, the Cuban government and people are barred from governing their own destinies.

"The Cuban government and people have a right to control their own destiny, as an act of justice," he stressed.

The Minister noted that Cuba has enormous human capital and in reference to its cooperation with Angola, he said that it is essential in the field of health, because it allows the government of this African country to improve quality of life for the population.

He stated that the impact of the Cuban School of Medicine in Angola will be even greater within two years, when the first medical students graduate from the five faculties created in this territory through the support of Cuban professors.
