Chavez Confirms Visit to Ecuador for Haiti Summit
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has confirmed his attendance next Tuesday in Ecuador to a meeting of the South American Union of Nations (UNASUR) which will define regional aid for Haiti.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has confirmed his attendance next Tuesday in Ecuador to a meeting of the South American Union of Nations (UNASUR) which will define regional aid for Haiti.
"We will be in Quito. We believe that the call by UNASUR's pro tempore President Rafael Correa very timely", he commented referring to summit on Haiti, a country devastated by an earthquake on January 12.
Due to the importance of the meeting, Chavez expressed his hope the rest of the heads of state of the regional bloc made up of 12 nations will attend the gathering.
Hopefully all will attend, he noted in his Sunday program Alo Presidente.
Among the statespersons who confirmed their participation in Quito meeting are Evo Morales (Bolivia), Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), Álvaro Uribe (Colombia) and Alan García (Peru).
Barely hours after the earthquake that caused more than 200,000 deaths, Venezuela announced its commitment to the Haitian government and people.
Since then Caracas have expanded marine and air bridges that have brought 10 thousand tons of humanitarian aid for the victims.
