The Sweden-Cuba Friendship Association recalled the assassination in Bolivia of Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara with an act in Vasteras city, it was informed Monday in that capital.
In the homage to the Heroic Guerrilla, the counselor of the Cuban mission in Stockholm, Caridad Perez Gonzalez, highlighted the continuity and importance of Che's thinking for Latin American peoples.
She also reiterated the international call for the release of five Cuban anti-terrorists imprisoned in the US for ten years.
The diplomat stressed that Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, and Ramon Labanino are paradigms of the new man Che envisaged, and they boost his ideals and thinking.
The act in Vasteras also greeted the coming 50th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban revolution, and paid tribute to the victims of the attack against a Cuban plane in 1976 in Barbados.
The participants denounced the increasing US hostility against the Island, and the blockade imposed by Washington for nearly 50 years, despite reiterated condemnation at the UN.
