COPPPAL Ratifies Solidarity with Cuba and The Five
The Permanent Conference of Latin American and Caribbean Political Parties (COPPPAL) ratified on Tuesday its solidarity with Cuba and its condemnation of the blockade imposed by the United States to this country.

The Permanent Conference of Latin American and Caribbean Political Parties (COPPPAL) ratified on Tuesday its solidarity with Cuba and its condemnation of the blockade imposed by the United States to this country.
In a statement at its XXIX Plenary Meeting that closed on Tuesday night, after two days of work in San Salvador, the organization supported the cause of freedom for the Cuban Five imprisoned in the U.S.A.
The meeting was attended by Ricardo Alarcon, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the National Assembly of People's Power, who arrived in San Salvador last weekend to attend the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN).
"We demand the release of the five Cubans, who remain unjustly imprisoned in U.S. jails for fighting terrorism", stated the parties of the COPPPAL in the document. Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernández and Ramón Labañino, were convicted in the U.S. for attempting to defeat, without weapons or violence, the actions of terrorist groups against Cuba.
We recognize the important contribution of solidarity that Cuba, despite its needs and limitations, has provided over the years to Latin American and Caribbean countries, expressed COPPPAL.
COPPPAL was founded on October 12, 1979 in Mexico at the initiative of the Institutional Revolutionary Party and so far it has 60 adherents from 29 countries in the region.
