Cuba aroused the interest of hundreds of students from the Japanese University of Foreign Studies in the province of Nagoya, the Caribbean island''s embassy in this nation stated today.
Under the title "Cuba: a nation for peace and a society in progress," the charge d'affaires of the Cuban embassy in Japan, Elizabeth Valdes-Miranda, gave a lecture in such institution.
The colloquium took place on occasion of the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, nuclear attacks ordered against the Japanese people by the then U.S. President, Harry S. Truman.
That attack left about 300,000 dead and other thousands of inhabitants with chronic diseases and consequences for life.
Through the Cuban official's speech, the students could learned about the positions and actions of the Caribbean island, regarding world peace and disarmament.
They also learned about the updating of the Cuban economic and social model, its motivations, main objectives, adopted measures and projections.
After concluding the presentation, those participants made several questions about the most many aspects of the Cuban reality, including demography, culture, education, history, science and bilateral relations with Japan.
