More than 1,792,000 students come to school today to begin the 2015-2016 course in Cuba, where ensuring quality education and values formation is a priority.
During school holidays, the Ministry of Education conducted the appropiate preparations, for which the State has provided about $17.5 million USD.
According to Education Minister, Ena Elsa Velazquez, raising the quality of the educational process, which not only refers to the acquisition of knowledge and development of activities, but also the training and development of values, remains as an essential objective.
Those objectives should be reflected in the appropriate students' behavior in and outside the educational institutions.
The conditions created so far are higher than the previous year, in terms of resources and teaching coverage, the minister said.
Velazquez reported that everything was revised in August, to ensure the distribution of school materials, a rather complicated process that reaches more than 10,350 educational institutions.
Education has provided this year about $17.5 million USD for the import of materials for the beginning of the academic course, such as pencils, watercolors, sketchpads, temperas, aids for crafts, scissors, glue and erasers, among others, Velazquez listed.
As part of the attention to the demographic policy, spaces in kindergartens were recovered, with more than 2,700 new centers and in semiboarding schools, with 6,494.
She also stressed that the indications of health and hygiene measures to comply with in each center to prevent the spread of disease, through good hygiene, preservation, cooking and handling of food, are maintained.
