Cuban educational authorities are participating in a national seminar to prepare for the 2014-2015 school year, to improve the system and raise quality of the teacher training and educative process.

"To train a citizen who above all learns, loves and cares for the homeland, will be one of the main objectives of the upcoming teaching period," said Education Minister Ena Elsa Velazquez.

"Schools should not cease in their efforts to develop awareness and mobilize morale, in the face of the enemy's attacks to destroy the Revolution", she noted.

She stated that the schedule in all teaching levels will be more flexible for the upcoming academic course.

English language classes, computer, physical education, library, chess, as well as cultural and pioneer activities may be offered in the afternoon.

These could be spaces for the comprehensive training of students, she said.

These schedules will allow teachers of different subjects to have more time for self-improvement in their chosen subject, either in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on the kind of center, enrollment and specific conditions of each school, she stated.
