The European Union and Cuba are set to resume talks next week in Havana toward a normalization of relations. The EU consulate in Havana reported Tuesday that an agreement is likely to be reached soon.
Representatives from the two sides will meet in Havana on March 3 and 4 for a seventh round of talks. The talks will be led by the head of the Department for Relations with North and South America in the European External Action Service, Christian Leffler, and Cuban deputy foreign minister Abelardo Moreno.
Pending articles in the chapters on political dialogue and cooperation, and institutional provisions and general provisions of the Agreement, will reportedly be discussed during the meeting.
The EU-Cuba negotiations began in April 2014, and so far six rounds of talks have been held.
