Cuba blood donations today exceed the estimates foreseen for two consecutive years ago, according to information published by the national media.
Dr. Luis Enrique Perez, head of the National Blood Program in the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) stressed that more than 6.5 million Cubans between 18 and 65 years old are able to donate.
'About 340,000 people out of this number donate blood systematically, which represents about five percent of that potential," said the specialist.
This is a success of the people that support the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution and the Minsap, highlighted a news from the National Information Agency.
Perez said that on average, with each contribution three lives are saved; donations are of vital importance especially in cases of accidents and surgeries as more than a million that occurred last year on the island.
