The president of the National Electoral Commission (CEN), Alina Balseiro, assured that the institution has the best conditions to guarantee the partial elections, scheduled for April 19.

She recalled that on September 2014, the Council of State agreed to set up the working commissions in the provinces to guarantee the organizational and material foundations of the process.

In addition to setting up the commissions and training its members at all levels, we are working on the plans to guarantee the process, including communications, transportation, computer security and other necessary resources such as forms, pens, ballot boxes and computers, she noted.

The implementation of a new computer system will allow reaching the municipal level and support each step of the elections, both past and future, thus guaranteeing more security and reliability of data, the official added.

For example, if a person is nominated to be a delegate in his/her election district, and that person is an electoral authority, the system reports it, so that the pertinent changes can be made, explained Balseiro, quoted by the newspaper Granma.

She pointed out that electoral authorities at the election district level have the forms for the assemblies to nominate the candidates, which will be held from February 24 to March 25, in addition to a booklet to register every step of the process.

The CEN president noted that most murals to exhibit the photos and biographies of the nominees are ready.

In addition, conditions are being created to check the voters' lists, which will be published on March 16-17, added Balseiro, who noted the need for mass participation in the assemblies to nominate the candidates.
