For the sixth consecutive year, this 2015 is predicted to close at a rate of child mortality in Cuba below five per a thousand live births, said here today a national media.
The note assures that the results of the Mother and Child Program are the fruit of the Medical Genetics programs-which since 1983 was resized and improved- and that of Immunization.
The latter protects children against 13 preventable diseases by applying 11 vaccines or immunobiologicals products, eight of them produced in the archipelago.
'This contributed to the fact that, for several years now, the Caribbean nation exhibits an infant mortality rate below five, lower than the one of developed countries like the United States and Canada', stressed the Cuban News Agency.
Moreover, in the current year, more than 7,000 Cubans were beneficiaries of cell therapy in regenerative medicine in conditions regarding angiology, orthopedics and dentistry, according to the Institute of Hematology and Immunology, of national reference in that branch.
'It should be also noted that for the fourth consecutive year, a million surgeries were performed in Cuba', stated the text.
