Cuba finished in the third Latin American position, behind Brazil (16-14-17) and Mexico (10-3-7). Judokas gave Cuba one gold and two bronzes while athletics gave it 4 gold, three silver and 4 bronze, with an outstanding performance by sprinter Yunidis Castillo with 2 gold and world records.
