Cuba will save three million dollars on imports with the production of seven million bags of saline solutions by the Eastern Pharmaceutical Labs, in Santiago de Cuba.
Following the assembling of a new production line, the enterprise reached the highest yield in a year with 3,600 saline solution units obtained in the period from January to July.
The medicine is packed in plastic bags, which will soon be produced within the factory after the assembling of a unit for fabricating such items. This new capacity is the result of agreements between Cuba and Venezuela under the umbrella of the Bolivarian Alternative of the Americas (ALBA).
In statements published by the Trabajadores newspaper, Operations Manager George Moya Araujo, said by next year, the unit is expected to yield 10 million saline solution bags, which will safe the country four million dollars.
The production could cover 62 percent of the national demand and contribute to the supply provided to international medical cooperation brigades.
