Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association's Vice President Ruvislei Gonzalez stressed on Wednesday the historic importance of the independence of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on its 75th anniversary, which the island celebrates because of its global significance.
Gonzalez noted that a special reason for commemorating the date in 2020 is the 60 years of establishing official ties between both nations, characterized by a close friendship that comes from the fraternity between the historic leaders Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh.
In an article that reached Prensa Latina's editorial office, the Association's vice president describes the steered path by the Vietnamese people, under the leadership of Ho Chi Minh, until they reached the proclamation of independence on September 2, 1945.
Then, 80 years of colonial rule was ended, the monarchy was abolished, and Vietnam became an example for countries that remained colonies.
