The first round of talks between Cuba and United States on the restoration process of diplomatic relations and opening of embassies will be held on May 21 in Washington.
This meeting will give continuity to previous rounds, held on January 22 in Havana and on February 27 in Washington, as well as a meeting monitoring the previous one, held in Havana on March 16.
The delegation of the Caribbean island will be headed by Josefina Vidal, United States director general of the Foreign Ministry, emphasized the note of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
Bruno Rodriguez, head of the ministry, explained that there is a considerable progress in the dialogue to solve the financial issue of the Cuba Interests Section in Washington, who turns consular functions, and lacks banking services for more than a year.
This situation is due to the banks' reluctance, who fear sanctions from the White House because of US laws that penalize companies that do business with Cuba.
