The first of two series of Cuban cinema scheduled to pay tribute to the 55th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC) has opened in Berlin.
This event, held at the downtown Cafe Sibylle in this German capital, included the screening of the classic Cuban film "Clandestinos" (Clandestine Ones), by filmmaker Fernando Perez, the Cuban embassy reported.
After opening the event, Hector Corcho Morales, responsible for cultural affairs at the Cuban embassy in Germany, stressed the work that the ICAIC has developed during those 55 years. Morales also talked about the current challenges of younger generations of filmakers, recalling outstanding directors who raised the profile of Cuban film.
