Cuban Diplomat Denounces US Blockade in Baltimore

The head of the Cuban Interests Section in Washington, Jorge Alberto Bolaños Suarez, denounced on Wednesday the almost 50-year-old economic, financial and trade blockade imposed by the US government on the Cuban people.
According to Granma news daily, Bolaños participated in the opening session of the autumn seminar on the western hemisphere in the Center for Higher Studies of the John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
In his lecture, entitled ‘The Other Truth’, the Cuban diplomat gave concrete examples of the economic and human losses that the blockade has caused almost since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
He also recalled the overwhelming rejection of the US blockade of Cuba at the UN General Assembly, where almost all its members condemn this policy every year.
The meeting was attended by students and professors and also by Wayne Smith, former head of the US Interests Section in Havana. Also present was Professor Rioddan Roett, director of studies on the western hemisphere.
