Seven Cuban physicians and specialists will arrive in Seychelles in the next two weeks and another group will get there before the year´s end, highlights today with great display the first page of the Nation daily.
That assistence results from the cooperation agreement signed between the Health ministries of both nations, explains the newspaper.
The document was signed by Cuban ambassatrice Maria Aida Nogales and the Minister of Finance, Danny Faure.
The protocol strengthens the help and medical cooperation in several fields and increases from 15 to 28 the current Cuban health brigade in this island nation in the Indian Ocean whose cost is paid by the Cuban government, explains the Nation.
Ambassatrice Nogales told Prensa Latina there is a prevention and fight program against lepthospyrosis and a plan for medical formation with the aid of Cuban specialists when the University is inaugurated in 2010.
Minister Faure described the accord as touchstone in the efforts of his country to raise human and social development.
He also expressed the appreciation of the Seychelles people for Cuba and all the support it has offered, which strengthens friendship and cooperation between both nations.
Faure said this aid is given at a time when Seychelles engages in economic reform which has an impact on social sectors like health and the government needs more resources, like financing and human resources to sustain quality service.
