Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez met on Thursday with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, as part of his official visit to that South American country.
The excellent state of Cuba-Brazilian relations and particularly the success of economic-commercial bonds were among the aspects tackled during the meeting.
At the Planalto Palace in Brasilia, designed by Oscar Niemeyer as part of an architectural project prepared in 1956, the Cuban FM gave the Brazilian head of state a letter sent to her by President Raul Castro.
During his stay in Brazil, the Cuban diplomat held exchanges with his counterpart, Antonio Patriota, and with the presidents of the Federal Senate, Jose Sarney, and of the commission of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Senate, Fernando Collor de Mello, as well as with the vice-president of the Chamber of Deputies, Rose de Freitas.
The Cuban FM also met with representatives of the Brazil-Cuba Parliamentary Group. Dealt with during the meeting was the situation of Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Gerardo Hernandez, known internationally as The Five.
He also expressed his appreciation for the profound demonstrations of solidarity of the Brazilian legislative body towards the Cuban people.
